The Blockchain Solution & The Global Healthcare Industry

Founded in March 2020, Bookzdoctor Inc. develops the first Blockchain decentralized application solution for the global healthcare industry. Through common, industry-specific non-fungible tokens (BZD) and several Blockchain-based software tools, all participants are securely interconnected, empowered to efficiently exchange medical information and values.

Decentralizing Medical Records

Your medical records should be complete and correct. It will help you get better preventative care and treatment. It helps decrease getting tests you don’t need. It gives you a current list of medications and immunizations and keeps your allergy information up-to-date. It allows you to check records to make sure your diagnosis and reason for a doctor’s visit matches your billing statement and billing codes and dispute charges for in-hospital care like surgery time, drugs you didn’t take or procedures you didn’t have. Every patient is in control of his data.

The Advantages

Authenticity

The only thing that makes you unique in this world is your DNA & health records. What if you can own that uniqueness digitally? Make your health data your own property, so you could have more control on when it is shared and by whom. Why do we let big pharmaceutical companies profit from our data? You are the master of your own health data. You could auction it off. You could ensure that you benefit financially as others use it to advance medical research, find new treatments or resell it. All the parties using it could have more assurance that the data is authentic.

Universality

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) gives patients the right to view their medical records, get copies and make corrections to them. This is mostly used by patients relocating to a different area and wanting continuity of care with their records, or changing physicians, or involved in litigation or the health care providers may be retiring or closing the practice. Patients are absolutely entitled to obtain their medical records as indicated by 45 CFR, section 164.524. Keeping copies of your medical records can also help you spot errors.

Prevention

Remember the ALS - Ludwig's disease ice bucket challenge? Why not get paid to drive and spread that awareness. We have created authentic artistic cards that illustrates every disease known by humans. The more tradable these cards get, the more awareness about prevention we will spread. Let's make the world a better place and incentivize the hardworking ones.

Insurance

Today doctors & hospitals get richer when there are sicker patients. Our innovative methods creates an environment where the doctor, the hospital, and the patient can reach a common goal while simultaneously benefiting themselves and the healthcare industry. Healthcare is a team work and that is being pioneered through smart contracts technology at Bookzdoctor Inc.

Our awesome features

Non-Fungible Medical Records

A $10 note is fungible. You can exchange it for another $10 note and still have $10. When something is fungible, it means it can be exchanged with another thing of the same kind, which has equal value. If someone does you a unique favor, you’re more inclined to give that person a nice unique gift for their birthday. That gift is non-fungible. It's unique. Yes, anyone can buy a Monet print as a gift. But only one person can own the original.

Claim Ownership

Make your health data your own property, so you could have more control on when it is shared. Why do we let big pharmaceutical companies & government agencies profit from our data? You are the master of your own health data. You decide what to do with it.

Whitepaper

As blockchain technology continues to dominate headlines, cryptocurrencies—especially their valuations, and potential to disrupt the healthcare industry—are of increasing interest. However, the average consumer doesn’t understand what a cryptocurrency is or why it matters, let alone how the technology behind it works. As a result, the public perception of blockchain application is increasingly narrow-minded and short-sighted. Bookzdoctor will make blockchain technology accessible to the average consumer through innovative strategies.

Abstract

The name of Bookzdoctor’s mainnet is Avicenna and it refers “Persian polymath who is regarded as one of the most significant physicians, astronomers, thinkers and writers of the Islamic Golden Age, and the father of early modern medicine.” Bookzdoctor is developing a blockchain based health information platform that provides (1) patient centric health information (2) reliable health information (3) personalized health information under the vision of making healthcare universal and accessible to all. Avicenna is a core technology that will realize Bookzdoctor’s vision and will make an ecosystem of patient centric health information collection, management, and utilization possible. Many problems that healthcare face these days will be cured and improved through Avicenna and patient’s healthcare experience will be reinvented. Avicenna is a health information protocol, a public blockchain with independent network. On Avicenna, records are made and validated through nodes’ validation; once a record is successfully put on the blockchain, it cannot be forged or falsified. The core function of Avicenna is to record hash value of health information and to prove the integrity and ownership of the data through the hash value. Avicenna can be utilized freely with its cryptocurrency, BZD coin.

Technical

Avicenna blockchain uses DPOS(Delegated Proof of Stake) consensus mechanism with PBFT(Practical Byzantine Fault Tolerance) algorithm. In DPOS consensus mechanism with PBFT algorithm, validators(block producers), that are decided by votes of network participants, efficiently produce new blocks at a high speed while synchronizing the blocks. In Avicenna, the group that validates and produces blocks are called Validators and when they successfully fulfill their duties as validators they are rewarded with BZD mainnet coin based on the number of votes they received as an incentive. Those with BZD mainet coins that are not selected as validators can vote for validators, contribute in block validating process and receive incentives after each block creation is completed.

AVICENNA

Through Avicenna, data is managed by the data owners and the owners can safely update, send, utilize, and record the hash value of the health information. Many problems that patients face these days will be cured and improved through Avicenna and patient’s healthcare experience will be reinvented. All the activities on Avicenna could be checked through transactions(In case of personal health information, only the hash value will be stored). (1) Supporting the collection of patients’ health information from websites, mobile applications, etc. (2) Receiving patients’ consents to utilize their health information. (3) Empowering patients to have control over the collected health information. (4) Allowing healthcare companies and medical institutions to trust patient managed data. (5) Enabling the utilization of patient-consented data.

INFORMATION HASH VALUE

In Bookzdoctor platform, health information/data are managed in the form of Merkle tree. In case of services that utilize a specific data format/messaging protocol(e.g. HL7-FHIR), the data go through “Merklizing” process and Bookzdoctor provides software tools and guides to have these services easily utilize data through Avicenna. The merit of Merkle tree approach is that the users can share parts of the data while guaranteeing its integrity. The data owner will record root hash of Merkle Tree on Avicenna, the blockchain. Due to Merkle Tree’s properties, even if the owner of the data only share part of the data, the receiver could still check the integrity of the data through Merkle proof and root hash. Through this trait, data could be de-identified easily by omitting the personal information or could be checked for integrity before the actual data gets transferred/traded. The original data, which is converted into Merkle tree format, is stored in users’ smartphone devices. Since only the root hash of the original data will be stored on blockchain, there are no restrictions in the methods of encryption in sharing / storing the data. Even if the current encryption method loses its security because of the increase in computing power, new encryption method could be implemented at the service level while not interfering with the records on the blockchain.

Motivation

In developing Avicenna's blockchain, Bookzdoctor Inc. was motivated by blockchain’s public perception and how the following issues are potentially detrimental to the technology’s potential: (1) The public’s understanding of blockchain technology is limited and interest is typically tied to the headline-grabbing cryptocurrency valuations. (2) ICOs are a powerful funding tool, but abuses with the model and a lack of practical use cases are sowing mistrust in the technology they’re supposed to empower. (3) The decentralization of electronic medical records and the drive to establish an integrative healthcare system standard architecture to report medical data in a universal way. These three issues contribute to a larger issue: a shortage of meaningful innovation with blockchain technology in healthcare. To that end, our product aims to not only address these broad issues, but it aims to innovate within the healthcare space by practically exploring: Digital scarcity, digital collectibles, and non-fungible tokens.

Rare Diseases

CryptoDiseases are digital, collectible medical cards built on the Ethereum blockchain. They can be bought and sold using ether, and mixed to create new discoveries with informative medical information and varying levels of clinical research. At launch, 500 “Gen 0” cards (colloquially referred to as “Clock Cards”) will be stored in a smart contract on the Ethereum blockchain. These Clock Cards will be distributed automatically via smart contract at a rate of one card every 7 days. Each card will be sold by auction. CryptoDiseases cards are unique in appearance, with a distinct visual appearance (Prognosis) determined by its immutable research findings (therapies) which are stored in the smart contract. By allowing the cards to be traded at a certain threshold, they aren’t just a digital collectible. CryptoDiseases is an exciting, self-sustaining community where users can raise awareness and royalties of collectibles and trade them on the ethereum blockchain. Anticipating the outcome is exciting and the possibilities for new and rare research fields of a CryptoDisease are endless. In each threshold of trading, cards will have a recovery period before it can be traded again. There is no limit to the number of times a CryptoDisease card can be traded, but the recovery time increases the more they get traded.
